Day 11 – Rest, Relaxation and Packing <\/p>\n
Day 11 saw the team splitting for another action packed day of activities including an inflatable water park, a visit from royalty, the GB TR open golf championship playoffs, Vancouver Island and some rather less exciting work related activities. <\/p>\n
Those who chose the water park left early, with trunks, armbands, flippers and much excitement and anticipation of what is a mixture of a massive bouncy castle and the gladiators obstacle course on a lake. As you can imagine the GB team charged at every activity, throwing themselves onto inflatable pillows and bouncing others into the water, racing up climbing walls and trying not to be taken out by small children on the slides. All this eagerness came with a couple of injuries, one suspected broken toe, and a winded mister Dickson. But all returned with smiles and tall tales, and nothing that will interrupt the shooting\u2026. <\/p>\n
The other GB TR tournament, not so well publicised, that of the open gold championship, played over 18 mini golf holes, reached the pinnacle of its tour. Dave Rose went into the final one under par and although impressing some of the older residents on the course, ended with a rather disappointing 1 over. He did however walk away with the championship and firm handshakes all round. There is talk of a further crazy golf tournament in Ottawa, but like a Tiger Woods come back, this is yet to be confirmed. <\/p>\n
The last group to travel out went to visit a winery for a little bit of a tipple. The vineyard were delighted to welcome the GB rifle team and were even more delighted to welcome royalty, much to the surprise of everyone HRH The Prince of Wales was part of the team, only to find out they had mistaken Charles Brooks for HRH. Sorry sir…. <\/p>\n
Post a few mid afternoon naps, the packing started for the next stage of the journey. The 4am start means that all the bags are being packed and weighed tonight to be ready to load up first thing for a 4:30 departure. <\/p>\n
After a regimented session of weighing and discarding the last of the unwanted items picked up along the way, the team baggage master Reg Roberts, locked the room and allowed us all a well earned dinner and a couple of light refreshments. <\/p>\n
Although it is sad to feel like we are moving on, there is much anticipation and excitement of the shooting that awaits and the prizes to be won in the DCRA. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
