The Great Britain Rifile Team have contested a closely fought match with South Africa, USA and England. South Africa led by two points going into the final range but, as the result of some exceptional wind coaching, GBRT were able to overcome that deficit and win by a solitary point. We would like to congratulate the other teams, and particularly South Africa, on producing an exciting match of the closest margins.
South Africa pulled ahead after 700m, producing an exceptional performance in not dropping a single point with GB two off. Scores at 800m were level, with only a single V-bull in GB’s favour separating them from South Africa. At 900m, the wind conditions changed dramatically with sudden angle and strength changes resulting in all the teams straying wide of the bullseye. Some careful management of the more unsettled patches enabled GB to win the range by 3 points and with it the match.

The final of the State President is due to commence after lunch and will bring an end to an intense tour that we have thoroughly enjoyed and many thanks must go out to our amazing hosts.
