Day 5 – Range day and zeroing

Thursday 4th August 2022

Today we made the first trip to Bull Meadow Range in Nova Scotia to familiarise ourselves with the range and to zero our rifles.

First order of the day was to have our rifle chambers measured by one of our armourers, Tom Rylands. With measurements in tow, and safe delivery of our fabulous tour ammunition provided by Capstone, through the efforts of Emil Praslick from Berger, bullets were pushed to the correct chamber lengths and shooting began at 600m. We also took the opportunity to do some speed tests with LabRadar. Ammunition was consistent at 3000 ft / sec.

Zeroing completed, we then had our first 2+15 team match @ 800m with some promising early results. Notable scores were placed by Yusef Ali with an impressive 75.11.

Range time completed it was back to the hotel to freshen up and head off to a planned event – the unsurprisingly popular brewery Tour!

Preparations continued well into the night with ‘bullet pushing’ for all team members who needed specific jumps on their ammunition. Thanks go to Saxon Brewer-Marchant and Adam Fowler (ammunition quartermasters), Bob Samson, Tom Rylands and Jemima Hince helping do much of the ammunition ‘clacking’!
