International Team Matches

Team Competitions

In team matches, individual and team shooting is simple: hit the middle more often than anyone else. All teams field their best marksmen trying to win. Members of teams have trained hard to shoot at the top tier of international shooting and each believes they can beat all others on the day.

Team shooting at a competition

Scores on the day vary considerably over the years. Weather is a big part of the game; it can be different at each end which will change a good result to a poorer one in a few minutes. Some ranges may suit certain teams better, but the overall standard of shooting is very high from all of the top teams.

Match Badges

The wire badges that are presented to individuals representing a team in the ‘Big 5’ Matches. (The white cross in the center, is the badge presented to an England team member in for the National Match. The Mackinnon badge here is also the English one.)

The top matches competed for on the circuit — representing GB against the USA, Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand — are fiercely contested. All have their prestige and honour, some are annual events at the Imperial Meeting, and others at tours abroad.

All these countries have a wealth of international history which can be found by clicking the competition links below.
