Tom Rylands

Tom Rylands SC

After 30 years in the Animal Feed Industry, Tom made a career change and is now a shooting coach as well as gunsmith. He has coached at Ellesmere College and Shrewsbury School for 7 years and has been working as a gunsmith for a little longer. His business, Ellesmere Target Sports, also supplies accessories and ammunition for target shooters of all disciplines and this year he made and shipped all the ammunition for the highly successful GB Team to South Africa, some 20,000 rounds!

Tom started shooting full bore at University and shot for Worcestershire for 3 years; returning home, he has shot for Cheshire since 1982. Tom has toured the Channel Islands in 1984 and 87, gained his first GB Cap in 1988 on the tour to Canada. Since then Tom has toured with GB to South Africa (4 times), Australia (twice), USA and Canada once more in 1998. He has shot in 4 Palma Matches and 5 Australia Matches and currently holds the record score in the latter with 200.26. Tom has captained England on tour to South Africa in 2009. He has recently returned from a successful Channel Islands tour(2017), where he was Vice Captain.

Tom is married to Jane and they have 3 grown up children, 2 married, and 2 not so grown up grandchildren! (the latest arrived in June this year!). In his spare time, Tom shoots, occasionally!!

Although he would argue that it is work related, Canada will be his 4th tour abroad with a rifle and his 2nd GB tour of this year!
