Tour Diary, Day 12 (Green on the money… again - 17/08/2025)
By Sasha Radkovskii
From blistering heat the two days before to a far more comfortable temperature and a far more refreshing day on the range. Oh yes apart from the rain. Well it would be rude for the Brits not to bring the weather with them.
With a murky start, we were underway for the last shoot of the Grand Agg. Brandon Green clear of five points managed to secure the win with a strong finish of a 50.6. Finishing 398.43, still five point clear of Jon Underwood with a 393.44. Congratulations to Brandon for only dropping two single points over the three days. Once all the scores were tallied from the final individual shoot of the Grand, 12 members of our touring team found themselves in the Lt Governor’s Final.
The rain came in a little thicker but we were soon underway for the Canadian Pacific match. An eight firer match at a single distance at 1000x in the rain. Time to test the GB Team again against USA and Canada. The rain proved to be a challenge throughout the shoot with many shooters struggling to seek out their target. Thankfully no misses (to count) to report. GB was unfortunately off the pace with Team USA taking the win with 389.27, 2nd Canada with 381.23, GB in third with a score of 378.26. Well done to Team USA for the win.
The Lt Governors Final was shot soon after with the F-Class Open winner Amelia Dark being the youngest shooter and the only lady ever to win the title. No surprises with a five point lead we got to see Brandon secure another final win and to be carried off in the chair for a second time this year. Not long since winning HM the King’s Final at Bisley.
GB had its own successes today with Luca O’Flynn placing 1st in the Lt Governors Final, Jon Underwood coming 2nd in the Grand With Pete Holden in 6th, Clare Holland in 9th and Miles Horton-Baker coming in 10th. Simon Shouler managed to top score in the team match, followed by Luca, both clean in challenging conditions.
After the shooting and chairing off the winners, the team assembled for prize giving at the Officers mess at Base Borden, enjoying a refreshing drink and applauding all the winners. Of which Chris Watson, Simon Shouler and Rich Stewart managed to claim some silverware with Miles, Jon, Jeremy, Judy, Bruce, Clare, Matt and Luca claiming a host of medals. There was also a mention that there were “Too many Bullocks” at prize giving making it a little confusing to award medals to the right person.
Thats the end of the Ontario Rifle Association. Tomorrow is there start of the DCRA Meeting. The competition the team has been training for, for well over a year. Let’s go and do this!
