Tour Diary, Day 13 (Game faces on ladies and gentlemen, the DCRA starts today - 18/08/2025)

The DCRA Starts and the weather cools.
This morning saw a welcome drop in temperature and a clear and sunny sky as we made our way back to Mons Range for the start of the DCRA Championships.
Todays programme was 300 x2 and 1000 x2 for the Tilton (not in the Grand) and the MacDougall (in the grand)
Conditions at 300x were rather benign with a gentle 0-1moa drift from the right and many 50’s recorded across the field. The now well drilled range staff and competitors rattled through the 4 details in good order and we broke for lunch by 11.30!
The temperature now rising, the team found respite in the cooling breeze in the shade of the trees or the gazebo at 1000x.
As the competitors were called forward to the 1000x line for the first shoot, the mirage and flags were stirring into life and the heat now creating very interesting sight pictures!
Scoring on the first relay was solid with Jem scoring a 49.02 . The second relay was not so lucky with many being caught in the aim with a rapidly changing 0-5moa right bracket. (Scores including from this correspondant varied in the high 30’s and low 40’s…
The second competition at 1000x was the second half of the MacDougall and this time the first relay experienced similar conditions to those that had just gone before! Scoring was dented somewhat and many team members remarked that they had been caught in the aim.
The second detail was rather more readable with Pete (Birthday Boy) scoring a 49.04, making him 1 off in the Grand, just shy of Fazal Mohideen’s perfect 100 for the day, but these are early days…
Jem’s 49.02 combined with a 50.06 at 300x got him 99.08 We believe (subject to stats) that he won the Tilton!
The team will dine this evening at Scaddabush, a fine Italian establishment in Barrie ,and surely have a toast to Pete on his 44th birthday!
We resume battle in the morning!
