Tour Diary, Day 14 (Fazal’s ‘wet hole’ - 19/08/2025)
By Sasha Radkovskii
Tuesday morning dawned grey, cool and drizzly ahead of the first shoot of the Letson at 300x. Then, after the President’s 300x we stopped for a long lunch break in an attempt to dodge the worst of the rain. Some team members made trips to the Borden base Tim Hortons, for warming coffees and boxes of Timbits; while others took the opportunity for a Power Nap™️.
After a third soaking of the team captain by Jeremy, whilst he was trying to adjust the gazebo cover, it was just as well that Simon and Tom decided that hot tea was required, and they returned victorious with a watering can’s worth of ‘stewed tea’…resulting in some very happy Brits!!
The Norman Beckett competition is shot at 600 & 900 yds, with both ranges planned for this afternoon. The Canadian captain Fazal Mohideen had assured us of a dry ‘hole’ in the weather around 1400hrs. After a 3-hour delay, the Norman Beckett was underway…. In the heaviest rain we have had yet 🤣.
This however, didn’t stop James Bullock from scoring a perfect 50.10.
After a couple of hours’ drying our rifles and kit, sorting ammo and ourselves, it was Chuckies (again!) for some and a small recce party went into Barrie to suss out a restaurant for our final team dinner on Saturday.
Tomorrow will be a busy day with the remainder of the Letson, the Tunis and the John Brick as well as the postponed 900x shoot from today.
