Day 2

Alice Good

After a full night and day of travelling ahead of them, the GBU25 team having settled into their flight after changing into their pyjamas and cosying up under their complimentary blankets. A surprise dinner was then served, although missed by a couple of the team who had prioritised their shut-eye soon after boarding. Sleeps of varying quality followed, but regardless, happy yet sleepy faces all-round when the aeroplane breakfast was served – only a couple of hours before landing.

A historically speedy security with only a couple hiccups while going through customs, cars were collected from the rental shop and off we went, or so we thought, as one car would not stop incessantly beeping before we had even left the car park! After nearly re-locating all of our luggage into an entirely new rental car, it was finally worked out that the bonnet was slightly ajar! And so off we went.

Hours of driving later, after a few impromptu comfort breaks and a missed giraffe sighting, we arrived in Bloemfontein, and not a moment too soon, for our beds were waiting for us. Tomorrow begins the preparation for our competitions.
