Days 22-23

Luca O'Flynn

The past two days have been unforgettable. While our shooting had concluded on Wednesday, yesterday was the final day of the Palma match, which is the pinnacle of target rifle shooting. We all rose early and excitement was in the air as we headed to the range to help the Palma team with the scoreboard and register keeping.

And what a day it was. So many records were smashed and we witnessed the best shooting we have ever seen. Astoundingly, GB and Australia were tied exactly after Day 2 700 metres, meaning the last two ranges were incredibly exciting to watch. At 800 meters neither GB and Australia dropped a single point, an astonishing achievement and an absolute pleasure to witness. A tour highlight for sure!!

After a slightly deflating end to the match, it was only right to go and celebrate together. Nothing could distract from what an astounding week of shooting it had been from all teams; and congratulations to Australia for coming away victorious, what a phenomenal performance!

After an incredible few weeks, celebrations from all teams ran until the early hours of the morning. The team had breakfast together and then got packed up and prepared to head home. After, we joined gb for one last team meal ahead of our flight home tomorrow. It’s been the best time out here and as the last day of tour draws to a close, it seems unreal to be heading back to reality so soon. Until the next one…
