GBRT Canada 2013

Jonny Borland

Jonny was first trusted with a rifle at Dollar Academy in 2001, and first discovered Bisley that same year. Since then, he has shot around the globe, including the 2007 World Championship winning GB Under 25 team, and placed seventh individually in the Under 25 World Championships in Canada. A record breaking NRA tour followed in 2010, as did a few forays into major finals…some more successful than others.

Jonny has represented Scotland since 2002, helped them retain the National in 2011, and in 2012 was part of the team that set a new Scottish record in the Mackinnon. One of three athletes funded by sportscotland to compete in the World Championships in Brisbane, Jonny is also training in the Scotland High Performance Squad towards the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014. This is his second GB cap and fourth tour to Canada, where he is particularly looking forward to reacquainting himself with Dairy Queen as well as playing too much Big Buck Hunter.

When not shooting, Jonny works for a private equity firm up in Scotland, and spends most of his nights at the Institute of Sport being ‘encouraged’ by his coaches. If for some reason he isn’t on the range or in the gym, he’ll probably be standing near something delicious smelling/looking.
